Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue in Kanpur was damaged on Wednesday 29th December 2006, due to this, the raged Dalits, created havoc in Mumbai and Maharashtra declaring a BANDH on Thursday. Shops were shutdown, Schools and Colleges had to declare leave, local trains were halted at certain stations, many offices were shutdown and much more.
Crime Scene
The Dalits took out rally, in protest against the damage of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue and killing of Dalits in Khairlanji on 29th September. The mobs destroyed various buses and vehicles. The DECCAN QUEEN and many other vehicles were burnt down to ashes. Not only that, sand bags were put on the roads to block the traffic. And the worst part is, police can not do anything nor they arrest them or stop them.
I really don’t understand what they get by making such huge damage to government and others property? Will statue get re-build by itself seeing the violence? India being a democratic country is good, but its bad as anyone can do anything they want. They just need a reason to start riots, without any logical thinking behind it. Whether a bird shits on a statue, a shoe found lying in front of the statue, etc. I think government should remove all the statues to prevent riots arising on behalf of statues.
Hope we have a riot free country someday.
